Sky Cable Account Termination Trap

My fellow Filipinos, let this be a warning to those considering to open an account with Sky Cable may it be Sky Bundle or Sky Broadband.

We had experience a very long process of account termination that involves a lot of stress to us, this even despite dealing with them in good faith and notifying them ahead of time.

It started when we had to move from our old condo unit to transfer to our newly turned-over condo. Because our new unit does not support yet Sky Cable, we had to close our account in our old condo. We notify them weeks in advance that we need to close the account via email. If you had contacted Sky Cable, you would know that they took days to respond even to a simple query (good luck!). We chose email because their hotline is always busy, and we like getting our inquiries and their responses recorded (glad we did). They agreed and said they will wait until the next end of billing cycle before they can send the final bill. The next billing cycle happens to be after our date to leave condo, so we asked in advance if they need to take the equipment, as usual no response, and I had to inform them before we transfer that they can take it from my new address, I had my billing address changed as well.

They scheduled multiple picked up dates but they never arrived to do so. Only months later when their collector started sent SMS collecting balooned amounts. (What the ****) No bill arrived on our new address anyway.

Here we are, dealt with them in a very kind way and we were given this kind of treatment. No one deserves to be treated like this.

As the story goes, we demanded an explanation as to why we have balooned fees. Obviously, it is because of unpicked equipment so they scheduled it again. As expected, they did not arrived again (what the **** again), but did so the next schedule .

There, we expect charges to be zero now. But lo and behold, few weeks later, we have charges again to be paid. We, thinking we just wanted this over, paid the amount so we can finally close it.

And so we thought, customer service said we still owe them some fees again. (what the super ****) At this point, I am already furious (that feeling where we can get mad because you are so taken advantage - only get to experience this felling with Sky - well done)

The story is not yet over as we are now talking with legal services. We hated this stress and we hated how long they dragged this, not too mention the times customer service replied with nonsense making the process a lot longer. And why would customer service always not backread emails? The times we wasted there are so much.

    I just read your horrifying story and unfortunately, I think I am about to be in the same boat as yours.

    I've been an existing cable subscriber for than a year now and had encountered no problems until I decided to avail of their broadband service.

    I contacted them and made negotiations over the phone, complacent that the agent understood my requirements which was the SkyBundle 1399 - 4mbps unlimited broadband + 12mbps SkyMobi. After two days, installer people came to my place but they refused to install my broadband since they get reports of slow and interrupted signals in my area and that they need to fix it first. Technical guy said that it may take 1-2 weeks - so I waited. Later the same day my SkyMobi pocket wifi came and was activated after an hour upon receipt.

    After three weeks I got my first bill and shocked to realize that I was given the wrong subscription! Instead of the Skybundle, I got separate charges for my SkyMobi, SkyBroadband and SkyCable - amounting to 2500.- which was suppose to be less than 2000.

    Called up Sky Hotline and was told that they cannot help me. I was also told to try sending an email regarding my concern, and so I did. Been 3 weeks now and not even an acknowledgement of receipt of my email. No response at all.

    However a week ago, my agent called me up and informed me that they will now install my broadband the following day. I said OK but took that opportunity to let her know my situation. After 30 mins of argument she only told me that she can no longer do anything and there is no one else I could talk to besides her. PANALO! So? what now? Sorry na lang ako? I told her that I don't intend to pay for something I did not intend to subscribe in the first place! (BTW, about the same time, Sky changed their offered products to OneSky and removed the previous offers including the one I wanted.) I also asked her to cancel my subscription but that will cost me a termination fee of 12 mos x monthly subscription... (no, no, I do not want to curse)

    Later the same day, I tried to contact her again (she called me up thru my mobile so I got her number) but appears she had blocked my number. This was the first time this thing happened to me.

    I called up the hotline and asked if my subscription can be changed to OneSky which was way better and cheaper. But they said that since the service is new, it is only offered to new applicants. Strike 3!

    And now since I'm out of options, I do not plan to pay my bills and I don't care if they cut my cable until my concern is settled. However, I'm not sure about the consequences that this may entail as I don't plan to go all the way to legal matters. I think all I have to back me up is the recorded original conversation I had with the agent which, is in their hands. Oh mercy me!

  2. SKYCABLEA - as of August 10, 2017 7:05pm, try to the contact customer service 381 0000. Try the billing (press1) or technical concern (press2) for subscriber. You will know how shitty the service. Tsk, tsk...

  3. Also a subscribe who already finished the 2yr contract so that you could anytime terminate your subscription without any termination charges. BUT surprisingly even if your contract is done and no termination fee they will tell you that theres a Disconnection fee that you need to pay before they could disconnect tour accountm Wtf?? The reason why you're terminating the service is because you dont want to be charge anymore like financial issues then you will hear that Skycble will be charging a dusconnection fee of u think 300 i think incant remember anymore coz we did.not pay ut.and.just.leave it be..Beware of those charges guys

    1. Hello, i have the same problem with the disconnection fee, ive been bombarding them thru email as to where i can see this policy abt disconnection fee. But they just ignore me. And the fee is higher than my subscription. How abt that, huh? i regret subscribing to this sky(high charging)cable! In your case its been months now, did they send you a demand letter?

  5. Hi! I also had a terrible experience with Sky Cable. I signed up with their One Sky cable and broadband. I will now be moving and they said that the location I will be moving into has does not support Sky Cable broadband. Naturally, I would want to disconnect my services. The thing is, I was under the impression that there is no lock-in period. That's because when the agent came to my previous residence she specifically told me that THERE IS NO LOCK-IN period for One Sky. I thought it was a promo they had going on so I immediately signed up. And now that I want to terminate my contract they are saying that there is a lock-in period of 2 years and a pre-termination fee of $4000.00!!!!!

    I will NOT pay this amount! Never!

    Anyway, my question is, meron na bang nakapagtry na hindi magbayad sa Sky Cable? Magfafile ba sila ng kaso if ever hindi ka nagbayad? Thank you sa sasagot

  6. Don't pay them. They are not going to file a case for 4,000 pesos as filing fee and attorneys fees would cost more than that. Report them to the NTC. Thats what i am doing now. No service and they won't rebate??? WTF!!!

    1. Hello. I had financial issues that is why I wasnt able to pay for my 4months subscription. But just 1month of not paying it they already cut out my connections. Cable same with wifi. And now I decided to settle it they were asking me to pay 5,500. 3k for the termination fee and 2500 for my 2months unpaid bills. So i am like why do i have to pay for the termination fee? I wll not terminate my account anyway instead i will just settle it i want to reconnect again. 😔

Sakin 3198 sa 2 months na di mo nabayaran tapos mag babayad na Sana ako after 8 months ata na Wala na kami internet tapos Sabi nung girl dun permanent disconnected na daw account ko di na daw maibalik ung internet mag apply nalang daw ako ng bago. Tapos may bayad daw na 4000 para sa pre term charge sa contract. Bakit ganurn Ang laki. Babayaran ko pa ba guys?

    Service Fee = 356 pesos
    Pre-Termination Fee = 3,000 pesos

    The PTF is more than my remaining monthly subscription fee. Pambihira!

We moved out and want them to reinstall the broadband and cable here at our new house but they want us to pay for 3k for terminating the subscription sa old address namin, then install here sa new house for another 2300!!! Grabe! We dont wanna pay them nga and just go for another cable and broadband provider. Is that alright kaya?

  9. Kakakabit lang ng Skybroadband ko last June 24, and now sobra na yung abala sakin nitong internet nato. Laging interrupted yung connection. Sakit sa ulo. Di ko tuloy magawa yung mga part time job ko sa gabi. Nag sisisi na ako na sila pinili ko. hays. ang mahal pala ng pre termination fee. :(

    1. I'm assuming you're experiencing the same problem as I do. Palaging on/off yung connection nila araw-araw? Nakakainis kasi may mga mahahalaga kang ginagawa na kailangan ng stable na connection tapos sila di nila maibigay. I'm in this thread to seek out an answer if pwedeng di ko na lang sila bayaran hanggang sa maputol yung connection ko. Tapos sa ibang service na lang ako magaapply.

  10. Hi, I would just like to ask something about Skybroadband. So I am a student who'll be renting out an apartment and would be staying there for at least a year. I am interested in applying for Skybroadband for it is the only one within my budget range. I've read that they have at least a 2-year lock-in period in their contract. If I decided to cancel in the middle of the lock-in period how much will they charge me for it?

Hope this helps.my info on sky broadband bundle is you have a lock-in period of 2 years.If you terminate b4 your subscription expires you have to pay for the remaining months of ur contract and/or pay for the modem & pull out fees. Now,I have finished my lock-in period and want to upgrade to pure internet service. I was told by the agent of the new service to terminate my old subscription before I can avail of the new one. As it turns out I am now awaiting for a job order for skyserve to pull out the skybundle device in my place & need to pay for pull out fee of php356 to be billed they said. Until finally done, my old subscription stays. Also be very wary when you upgrade your subscription before your lock-in period expires. There is termination fee even if you want an upgrade.They consider it a diff account. Accounting will continue to Bill you unless your new agent will help to close the old service so he can consider the upgrade his new sale. So now I await when I can avail of my new upgraded account.
      I know other service providers charge pretermination fees also so know these before u subscribe.

    4. Jello,. Same problem.here. i dod not know that uphrade to fiber has another lockin period! Now they are charging me 4000.00 for pre termination fee coz the upgrade lock in is til Sept 2021.. i dont want to pay coz i have so many trouble with the connnecton before that 4000.00 is kulang pa if they will credit it all back.. pero d nman nkla ginagawa u.. mga swapang talaga.. tama kng ala na sila franchise

  12. I should have read all these negative comments. Since am out of the country & dont want to pay the pre-termination fee, i asked weeks before i left that they transfer my subscription to my other condo. They told me i have to pay the transfer fee which is fine. Then after several ffups they said the area is not serviceable. How come when my next door neighbor has Sky? I also reminded them of my downgrade request. After several ffups, the reply was they cannot transfer and they cannor downgrade since the Plan 699 is no longer being offered. What the heck? After all my texts none of my 2 requests could be granted. I have the edge because everything was on text. So i have written evidences. I just want to quit. Have it cancelled. And see what happens next. Drag them court maybe. And there is no suggestion whatsoever. Very disatisfactory customer service!

  14. Hi, same here. Due to financial reasons I was not able to pay for 1 month then they cut the connection right away. Ngayon dumating na ung second bill. Wala namang service pero may bill pa din. Shitty din naman internet nila madalas nawawala saka mabagal. Can someone tell me what will happen if I dont settle anything? I still have 5mos on my 2-yr lock in period

It happened to me in bayantel, their inyerneI is really good but that time we want to transfer house so we requested to transfer our internet in our new house. so they were asking for termination fee worth 4k. I decided not to pay and just leave the internet. So what happened I wasn't able to get Globe internet because i have record daw. But now Skycable approved my application which is pinagsisihan ko.

  19. wala ka talagang choice ng cable company kung di ipapalit mu tv plus na lng kung di mabayaran yun reconnection fee. 3 months walang bill dahil ngpapalit sila ng courier.

  20. shit tong skycable. 6 years mahigit na account ko sa kanila. di na gumaga yun remote ng matino. nagrequest ako ng replacement. 200php daw ang charge. tinanong ko kung pwede pa waive loyalty or courtesy manlang. hindi daw pwede kasi they adhere to responsibilities and policies. puking ina nio.. pag sira amg service ng isa o dalawamg araw, responsible ba kayo nagccredit ng account ha? mukha kayo pera

  24. I have a conundrum po with sky. So here it goes. I haven't had internet and cable with them for almost 3years now, di ko nabayaran for personal reasons. Last time nagbayad ako was 2017. I checked my bill with them a few days ago, there was 8500php and 3000php. I paid all of it. Now my cable is back but my internet isn't. I tried reactivsting my account via text message but its saying that the accpunt is expired. Anybody had this experience? Ano po kailangan kong gawin? Can someone help me please?

  25. I am in the same situation as of now May 2020. Even their my.sky.com.ph etc. etc. are not responding. I sent all my letters on their messenger and pictures. Rest asure i send them and they saw it. Hotlines are not responding.even in emails.

    1. I got the same problem like yours. Worst, i settled it before for permanently disconnection now they billing me again telling me that my account is for temporarily disconnection and I didn't request any permanent disconnection before. Sky sucks!

  27. Been trying to terminate account for 10 days now and no reply at all. Tried the hotline, FB, email, twitter. What a sham of a company. When your delayed paying your bill, their the first to call. When you need them for something, they dont even bother replying. SkyCable I hope I never have to deal with your company for the rest of my life. Your as bad as Meralco double charging everyone on their May bill.

  28. We are in related situation. Everyone knows that since most workforce started working from home, skybroadband started to double their failing network. Mean to say, in 1 year subscription it was already crappy, just got doubled this year. So we applied for a termination 2 months ago since we are switching to more reliable network. We actually did receive a response from them after a day, only to inform us that we have to pay termination fee worth 2k since we are not yet done with the 24mos subscription. Thats fine with me, and we acknowledged it. But, we did not receive any replies after that and now we received a paperbill shwoing 2mons worth of balance like wtf. They are prolonging our accounts activity. What a shitty company. We are now planning not to pay for anything since we are not even planning to engage with them in the near future.

  29. OMG!! Also emailed sky cable to terminate my subscription as it's not in use since March. Tried twitter, email, fb but no response to-date. Big problem is..the unit is in Manila but I reside in Bacolod and there's no regular flight yet. Im beginning to feel you guys. So I need to return the unit to make sure it's cancelled? Ive been paying the bill since it's automatically charged to my credit card.

  31. Anyone tried not paying their bill instead? I requested tranfer of address on june 8. They gave me a service no. But It's been 2 months and still they haven't fullfilled my request. And also they still charge me monthly even though I cannot use their internet in the new address. I've been sending follow ups daily and they don't care at all. They even won't give me an ETA! Will I wait until next year!? That's why I'm planning to change provider without paying my Sky bill or any fees. Please let me know if anyone tried this?

  32. bakit nila ineextend yung accounts? kasi ang alam ko at pagkakabasa ko sa contract, kung tapos ka na sa lock in period mo you only need to give them one month notice na gusto mo na mag paputol. you're last bill should automatically be that one month of notice lang and legally hindi na sila dapat maningil beyond one month after your letter of request for disconnection.

    1. so if you're planning to discontinue their service, make sure na you put it in writing and make sure na it's before your next billing date na ayaw mo na bayaran. kasi hindi mo na dapat bayaran yung next billing date mo after sending the letter kasi it should already be covered when you paid the advance when you started your subscription. remember when you opened your account nanghingi sila ng advance na 1 month diba? yun yung purpose nun. it covers the one month notice na ayaw mo na magpatuloy ng service nila. automatic dapat yun. when you state to them na ayaw mo na magpatuloy, they will continue you connection for one more month without any billing since it should already be considered paid.

  36. I have this problem in sky, as far as I know I settled all the bills last march to permanently closed and terminate my subscription to sky broadband. So I thought its done. Up to now, I received another email from sky billing telling me it have previous balance for the month of April and upcoming payment for the month of May. While honestly I didn't receive any billing mails from them last April. Now they want me to pay another 3000 because my account is not yet permanently closed. According the mail they sent, it's just a temporarily disconnection because I didn't pay before. This causes me so much stress. We talked already about the permanently disconnection then they billing me again for unconsumed internet. Can someone tell me what will happen if I just ignore their mails and not settled the new balance that they are billing me again?

  37. Fuck Sky Cable!

    May 12, 2021, I personally requested to relocate my broadband line since I will be moving to a different house. They accepted the request and generated a Job Order.

    May 17, 2021, an installer called letting me know that they will be installing my line at my new location. When the installer surveyed my place, they said that it's too far from their box and they won't be able to install my line. At that point, I've decided to just cancel my subscription with sky and look for other ISP.

    May 19, 2021, I visited one of their office to request for cancellation since they can't provide service at my new location. And guess what?! They want me to pay 2000 pesos for the pre-termination fee!

    I don't want to cancel my subscription in the first place! They're the ones that can't provide service!

    Does that seem fair to you guys?

  39. Hi, just wanna share, I just received a message from sa debt collecting law firm who has sky as their client. Medyo nagworry ako I have 2 months unsettled bill dahil ndi na magamit yung service nila due to bad connection. Napullout narin nila yung router. Then saka ako nakareceive ng message to settle my bill sa debt collector nila. Ndi ko sure kung what to do next kasi baka mamaya padalhan ako ng legal letter. I hope someone can share their knowledge. Thanks.

  40. Hello po planning to move na din sa ibang loc kaso wala daw line ng sky doon sa new apt ko. Ayaw ko naman magpadisconnect kaso no choice since di nila support yung place. The problem is mag 12 months pa lang contract ko sa oct 2, baka 4k din singilin sa akin na preterm fee ang mahal! So meron po ba ditong hindi na binayaran yun and ano pong ginawa nyo sa modem at cable nyo?
